Storage and private iCloud synchronization

NearNote stores reminder text, saved places, geographic coordinates, preferences, completion state, and recent places locally using Apple system storage. When iCloud is available, Apple CloudKit synchronizes this information through a private database associated with your Apple Account so it can remain available across your devices.

NearNote does not require a separate NearNote account and does not operate its own reminder-sync server. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policy. You can control iCloud access and storage from your Apple Account and device settings.

Location

NearNote uses Location Services to sort reminders by distance, help you select places, and ask iOS to monitor arrival regions. Apple’s region-monitoring service can notify NearNote when you enter a saved area. NearNote does not build or upload a continuous location history. You can change or revoke location access in iOS Settings.

Notifications

NearNote uses local notifications created on your device. Notification actions can complete, snooze, or open navigation for a reminder.

Maps and place providers

Map rendering and the default place search use Apple MapKit. When you paste a Google Maps or Waze link, NearNote contacts that provider to resolve the location you requested. Those providers may process network information under their own privacy policies.

If a build enables Google Places search, search text and an approximate search coordinate may be sent to Google to return place results.

Optional anonymous usage information

Anonymous usage sharing is off by default and is unavailable unless the app has been configured with a diagnostics service. If you enable it, NearNote may send a random installation identifier, event name, timestamp, app version, build number, iOS version, and non-sensitive event properties.

Usage reports never include reminder text, saved-place names, addresses, geographic coordinates, contacts, or advertising identifiers. You can withdraw consent in NearNote Settings.

Problem reports

When you report a problem, you control the report text and whether to include app version, build number, iOS version, and device model. An email address is optional. Reports are sent only after you explicitly submit or share them.

Retention and deletion

Information may remain in local storage and your private iCloud database until it is deleted. Deleting reminders and saved places inside NearNote updates the synchronized data. Removing the app alone may not delete information already stored in iCloud; you can manage app data through your iCloud settings.

If direct diagnostics or feedback collection is enabled, server-side reports are retained for up to one month.

Tracking and advertising

NearNote does not use information to track you across apps or websites and does not contain advertising.
